Reflexology is the traditional art of healing dating back to the times of Ancient Egypt, China and India.
It is based on the theory that different points on the feet, lower leg, hands, face and ears link with different areas of the body.
It involves gentle pressure massage on the feet.
How Reflexology Can Help You
The human body is divided into ten equal vertical zones, ending with the fingers and toes. Gentle pressure on one part of a particular zone can affect everything else linked to the “reflexes” on the hands and feet in the same zone. Reflexology helps the body to heal itself. Regular reflexology treatment promotes sound sleep and strengthens your immune system.
What Happens During a Reflexology Treatment?
Riki will ask you questions as to general health and lifestyle prior to the treatment. This helps to build up a complete picture of the patient so that treatment can be given. The Reflexologist uses his/her hands, gently pressing on the patient’s feet. Carefully trained hands can detect even tiny imbalances and deposits in the feet and, working on the points, blockages can be released and energy can flow freely again.
Following treatment, some patients experience deep relaxation and well-being, while others feel renewed energy. Some feel over-emotional but this is transitory and a way of the body responding to treatment.
Each patient’s course of treatment varies in length, according to their needs. An ever-increasing number of people use this safe and effective therapy, which balances, relaxes and harmonises the body and mind, and generally maintains a sense of well-being. Allow 1–1 ¼ hours for initial treatment.
